Q Night at the Movies presents the Depression-era film demonstrating what it takes to make life work admist a wave of hardship: Places in the Heart, starring Sally Field and Danny Glover. Before the movie learn about the adaptation of the epic mini-series Lonesome Dove. After the feature, stick around for a profile on the prolific country singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn.

Miss Springmaid at 7 p.m. "Colonel" Elliott White Springs of Springs Mills Inc. spearheads a successful advertising campaign incorporating risque images, puns and double-entendres.

On Story at 7:30 p.m. Producer Suzanne De Passe, screenwriter Bill Wittliff and crew members discuss the making of Lonesome Dove.

Feature Film Place in the Heart at 8 p.m. In 1935 rural Texas, recently widowed Edna Spaulding (Sally Field) struggles to survive with two small children, a farm to run and very little money in the bank--not to mention a deadly tornado and the unwelcome presence of the Ku Klux Klan. Edna is aided by her beautician sister, Margaret (Lindsay Crouse), a blind boarder, Mr. Will (John Malkovich and a would-be thief, Moze (Danny Glover), who decides to stick around to teach Edna how to plant and harvest cotton.

American Masters Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl at 9:55 p.m.
