In addition to the documentary, KLRU hosted a series of events designed to continue the discussion beyond the television shows. KLRU’s award-winning Outreach Department worked in collaboration with other organizations, including The Austin History Center and the National Museum of the Pacific War, to provide educational activities and advance screenings with panel discussions on the impact of World War II. Teachers used the free classroom digital media experience, Echoes of War: Stories from the Big Red One. It focused on the famed 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, bringing to life the heroics and humanity of the first to land on the beaches of Normandy as told by veterans who witnessed them first hand.
