"Gloria Feldt is the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Feldt married at the age of 15 and subsequently gave birth to three children. She lived as a homemaker for several years before she decided to attend college. It was there at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa that Feldt first became politically involved.
In 1974, Feldt became the executive director of the Planned Parenthood of the Permian Basin. In her four years there, she expanded the affiliate's operations from five health centers to eleven. She then moved to Phoenix, where she served as director of Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona for 18 years, where she increased the affiliates fundraising by 3,000 percent and its number of health centers from three to sixteen. In 1996, she became president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Feldt is the author of two books, The War on Choice: The Right-Wing Attack on Women's Rights and How to Fight Back and Behind Every Choice Is a Story.
