"Kirbyjon Caldwell serves as Senior Pastor of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston. He has gained national attention as a bestselling author and as an advisor to President George W. Bush. Since Caldwell became Senior Pastor in 1982, Windsor Village's membership has grown from 25 to 12,400, making it the largest United Methodist Church in the country. Faith-based community development is a priority of Caldwell's. Windsor Village is home to more than 100 community outreach ministries, which deal with issues including job placement, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, education, health care and housing. The Church's Power Center complex houses a bank, hair salon, WIC office, health clinic and community college branch that reach out beyond church members to the surrounding community. Caldwell and the community outreach ministries of Windsor Village have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Texas Monthly, The Dallas Morning News, The Houston Chronicle, BBC News, the NBC Weekend Today Show and NBC Nightly News. He delivered the benediction at President George W. Bush's first inauguration, who he befriended when Bush was Governor of Texas.
