About Modules

Facilitated Learning Modules are on-line, video-rich "mini-courses" in math and technology. Modules focus on quality, standards-based teacher development. Using streamed video, animations, simulations, and applets, Learning Modules discuss pedagogical issues and strategies for integrating technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Each module takes about 25-30 hours to complete. During the pilot year, participating teachers will receive a small honorarium upon completion of a module.

The modules can be used toward Texas' Professional Development Appraisal System (PDAS), toward ongoing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit required for teachers entering the system since September 1, 1999 or to earn certificates based on national and state technology standards.

Five Modules will be offered this fall:

  • Developing Algebraic Thinking in Grades K-2
    facilitated by Gayle Evertson
  • Algebraic Thinking in Grades 3-5
    facilitated by Mary Alice Hatchett
  • Count On It!: Number Sense for Grades K-5

  • Searching and Researching on the Internet

These four online modules will then begin September 30 and conclude November 17.
