Panelists:

Christy Hoppe is the Austin bureau chief of The Dallas Morning News. She has covered politics and policies in the state capitol through the terms of four governors. Prior to Austin, Christy worked as a reporter and editor in Dallas. A graduate of the University of Texas, she began her newspaper career with The Corpus Christi Caller-Times.

Corrie MacLaggan is the health and human services reporter for the Austin American-Statesman. She is based at the state capitol when the legislature is in session, covering issues such as Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and Child Protective Services. A native Austinite, Corrie has written for the Statesman's Spanish-language newspaper, ¡ahora sí!, and has worked as a reporter in El Paso and in Mexico City . She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill .

Emily Ramshaw grew up in a family of journalists in Washington , D.C.   After graduating from Northwestern University   in 2003, she moved to the last place on earth her relatives thought she'd go--  Texas--   to work for The Dallas Morning News. She spent three years covering politics at Dallas City Hall before the paper moved her to Austin , where she now covers everything from criminal justice to environmental issues at the legislature.
