Robert Garrett

Robert T. Garrett is a reporter in the Austin Bureau of Dallas Morning News. He covers the state budget, social programs and politics. He has been at The News since 2002 and previously covered politics and public policy for The Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif., The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., and the Dallas Times Herald. A native of Fort Worth, he has a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and in1993-94 was a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University.

Corrie MacLaggan

Corrie MacLaggan is the health and human services reporter for the Austin American-Statesman. She is based at the state Capitol when the Legislature is in session, covering issues such as Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and Child Protective Services. A native Austinite, Corrie has written for the Statesman's Spanish-language newspaper, ˇahora sí!, and has worked as a reporter in El Paso and in Mexico City. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Liz Austin Peterson

Liz Austin Peterson covers health and human services and higher education issues for The Associated Press in Austin. She joined the Capitol bureau in 2005 after covering K-12 education for two years for the AP in Dallas. She has also worked for the AP in Chicago and Detroit. The Pittsburgh native graduated from Northwestern University.
