Tohoku Grandmas To The World Stage

Swiss fashion designer Kazu Huggler has been helping people in the city of Rikuzen Takata, which suffered terribly in the disaster. She linked up in January, 2013 with a team of sewing Tohoku Grandmas who live in temporary housing to set up a project for recovery through handicrafts. They made tote bags, purses and other samples for introduction in Switzerland and received an order for 300 pin cushions that Kazu had designed. Two also went to Switzerland for the debut of the pin cushions. They had never expected anything like this but embarked on the journey with all of their resolve. So, how did the presentations and sales negotiations go? We follow Kazu Huggler's recovery efforts and the Tohoku Grandmas, who are now seeking to make commercial products with professional pride.
