Born into the church - his father was a minister and his mother was a church pianist - music and spirituality surrounded Al Jarreau. After earning his master's degree, he worked as a rehabilitation counselor by day and jazz singer by night. Eventually the night's won out, and music became his calling card. The hits soon followed with "We're in this Love Together," "Boogie Down," "Morning,"-- the theme from the TV series Moonlighting-- and even a solo spot on "We Are the World." He has gone on to be the only artist in history to win Grammy awards in three different categories - Jazz, Pop and R & B. On this episode of InnerVIEWS with Ernie Manouse, our conversation with 7-time Grammy Award winner, vocalist Al Jarreau.
