A veteran musician who'd released two CDs before turning 20, Sarah Jarosz has gone from teenage bluegrass hotshot to fully-realized innovative artist in less time than many of us spent in braces. Playing mandolin, octave mandolin, banjo and guitar while singing in a rich, throaty voice, Jarosz creates a staggeringly original sound with her new ensemble, featuring violinist Alex Hargreaves and cellist Nathaniel Smith. Their melodic interplay weaves rock rhythms, classical textures and Appalachian melodies.
