Episode #1612

Denise Levertov - Called one of the "central figures of American poetry in the last fifty years," Levertov, who died in 1997, was a poet of doubt and faith, war and peace, Christianity and Judaism. Her poetic development is described by Dana Greene, author of Denise Levertov, a Poet's Life. Greene was interviewed at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC where Levertov's photograph is part of an exhibition entitled "Poetic Likeness: Modern American Poets." Caring for an Aging Parent - Thirty-six percent of all caregivers are adult children taking care of an aging parent. And with people 85 and older now the fastest-growing group in America, those numbers are expected to rise dramatically over the next few years. Kim Lawton looks at the social, emotional and spiritual challenges facing those caring for their elderly parents.
