Having completed the under painting, more highlights and dark areas are added to the background and road to provide contrast. Next, the tree trunks are blocked in on the sides using a dark, rich mixture. At this point, shadows can be added across the road. The rocks are next highlighted, and the script brush is used to add overhanging limbs to the trees. The session is completed by highlighting the tree trunks to create roundness, and a leafy technique is employed to add pockets of leaves and canopies. The session ends with adding spot highlights using complimentary colors to provide balance.
