From 1972-2008, John McDonnell coached the University of Arkansas to 40 National Track and Field Championships. It is a record that may never be broken - or challenged. THE GREATEST COACH - EVER is about the life and career of this native of County Mayo, Ireland, who was national coach of the year 30 times, coaching the Razorbacks to 84 Conference Championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. The film was produced by the team of Larry Foley and Jim Borden, who teamed up for the 2007 Mid America Emmy Award winning documentary Charles Banks Wilson - Portrait of an American Artist. Coach McDonnell is now retired, but still helps his former athletes train for international competitions, including the Olympic Games. The track where he built his dynasty, on the University of Arkansas campus, is named in his honor.
