Dan Rather was the first network television journalist to report the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he also covered Watergate and the Nixon impeachment hearings, and in 1981, he took over for retiring Walter Cronkite as the anchor of the CBS evening news - a post he would hold for 24 years. Not without scandal and controversy, he does hold a unique first person account of many of the major events of the late 20th century, including having interviewed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein twice, once in 1990 during the first gulf war, and then again in 2003 shortly before the U.S. invasion. On this episode of InnerVIEWS..., an in-depth look at the career of multiple Emmy and Peabody award winning journalist Dan Rather.
