SEEKING ART IN SHANGHAI surveys the booming contemporary art scene in China's most populous and cosmopolitan city through the eyes of two American gallery owners. Cameras follow Mark and Susan Wolfe (with their one-year-old daughter Scarlett in tow) as they explore Shanghai's art districts, museums, galleries and artist studios. They make their way from the swanky French Concession to the artsy Moganshan warehouse district and interact with artists, fellow gallery owners and each other. In between, they visit Shanghai's neighborhoods, from the Yuyuan Bazaar & Gardens in "Old Town" to the ultra-modern financial district, where they ride to the top of the second tallest building in the world. The documentary concludes with Mark and Susan's return to the United States, where they arrange an art exhibit - (re) Turn to (re) Form - featuring three of the artists they met in Shanghai.
