Nick experiences the tree-less alpine tundra and travels along Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved highway in the United States. Then, Nick journeys along Old Fall River Road, a route dating back to the Stanley Steamer, steam-powered automobiles produced in the late 19th century. Upon traversing the continental divide, he enters the area of the headwaters of the Colorado River and learns about moose, bears and mountain lions. After sampling fly-fishing, Nick and his crew embark on an overnight hike which takes them from one side of the Rockies to the other.
