Refugee Resettlement: A married couple from the Democratic Republic of Congo is trying to reunite amid uncertainty over the Trump administration's policies. There are now 67 million refugees around the globe. Displaced from their homes due to war, political persecution and ethnic violence, refugees can wait decades for a new country to take them in. The United States has accepted three million refugees since 1980, more than any other country, but it is now reversing course, accepting fewer than at any time in almost 40 years. PBS NewsHour Weekend, in partnership with public radio station WNYC, reports on the uncertainty faced by one married refugee couple, separated by thousands of miles, and by America's new refugee policies. This story is part of our ongoing series on poverty and economic opportunity in America, "Chasing the Dream."
