DIY Design for the Home - Thomas Barnthaler's book "Do it Yourself" showcases 32 designs for home furnishings that anyone can make. They were dreamt up by professionals such as Konstantin Grcic, Patricia Urquiolo and Ai Weiwei. Euromaxx rises to the challenge - and finds out if it's all really as easy as it looks. A Karl Lagerfeld Retrospective in Essen - The Folkwang Museum in Essen shows works by all sorts of world-famous Germans. From February 15th to May 11th, 2014, it will be showcasing designer Karl Lagerfeld's wide-ranging creation's from the last half-century in: "Parallel Contrasts: Photography, Books and Fashion." Carnaval de Nice - The carnival in Nice is one of the biggest in the world and attracts approximately one million visitors each year. It features glamorous shows with colorful parades and international dance groups. There is also an annual competition to be the Carnival Queen - and the winner gets to ride on a float at one of the biggest events - the Battle of the Flowers. White Elephant - Swiss origami expert Sipho Mabona wants to make a life-size elephant from a single sheet of paper. The Lucerne-based artist folded his first paper airplane at age five and has since made a career producing stunning origami figures. By creating a replica of one of the world's most imposing creatures, his aim is to show what a single sheet of paper can do. Breathing New Life into West Berlin - Before the fall of the Wall, the area around Zoologischer Garten and the Kurfurstendamm was the most glamorous part of West Berlin. But it fell out of fashion in the 1990s, when the "cool crowd" started to flock to the East. But its fortunes are now changing once again, thanks to the opening of the revamped Zoo Palast cinema, the Waldorf Astoria, the 25Hours Hotel and the "Bikini-Haus" mall.
