After earning his master's degree, he worked as a rehabilitation counselor by day and jazz singer by night. Eventually the night's won out, and music became his calling card. The hits soon followed with "We're in this Love Together," "Boogie Down," "Morning,"-- the theme from the TV series Moonlighting-- and even a solo spot on "We Are the World."
