KLRU features Robert Randolph at annual Block Party fundraiser

Austin, TX -- KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, presents pedal steel guitar phenomenon Robert Randolph at the 2007 KLRU Block Party on Oct. 12 in downtown Austin. Randolph's live performances are the stuff of legends with skilled musicians playing a unique blend of danceable funk, soul and gospel.

The 2007 KLRU Block Party is the second in a series of gala events celebrating KLRU's presence downtown and the creation of the planned Austin City Limits studio theatre in the Block 21 development. This lot across from Austin's City Hall is a cornerstone in the revitalization of Downtown Austin.

The event will features an Austin City Limits-style musical performance giving guests a one-of-a-kind and up-close concert performance. This intimate concert will be paired with some of Austin's finest foods. This year's event also features previews of KLRU's statewide and local programs -- including Central Texas Gardener, Texas Monthly Talks and In Context -- and KLRU's beyond television activities including Ready To Learn. Each year KLRU's Block Party also highlights new additions and business partnerships to the Block 21 structure, culminating in the much anticipated public viewing at the grand gala opening in 2010.

Space at the 2007 KLRU Block Party is limited and the 2006 event sold out. Tables seat 10 people and are available for $5,000.  They can be purchased at klru.org/blockparty or by calling 471-3101. All net proceeds benefit KLRU-TV, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Special thanks to the 2007 Block Party sponsors Stratus, W Hotels Worldwide, Andersson-Wise Architects, Anheuser Busch, Armbrust & Brown, L.L.P., Austin Eagle Landscaping/Ramsey Land Surveying, Bury + Partners, Fulbright & Jaworski, H-E-B, Heritage Title Company of Austin, Inc., Hill Partners Inc, Inman Foundation, Marquee Event Group, Novare Group/Andrews Urban, and United Heritage Credit Union.
