Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright to speak at KLRU event.
WHAT:
Suzan-Lori Parks talks about becoming a writer, following one’s creative voice, and issues of the day at SPARK: KLRU’s Engaging Speaker Series presented by AMD.
WHO:
Suzan-Lori Parks has made her mark in the worlds of drama and
literature. Her writing raises historical questions about social and
political issues, including struggles with racial and class prejudice. In
addition to numerous awards, Parks is the first African-American woman to be
awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Theatre for her play Topdog/Underdog.

Suzan-Lori Parks is KLRU¹s featured guest for the fifth and
final event in the Austin PBS station¹s annual speaker series. This year
the series has a new name and new location. Now called Spark: KLRU’s
Engaging Speaker Series presented by AMD, the series has featured journalist
Dan Rather, physicist Brian Greene, author Azar Nafisi, rap artist Chuck D,
and journalist Leonard Pitts.
