Austin Documentary Wins Gold at Worldfest Film Scheduled to air on PBS this Fall

"Last Best Hope A True Story of Escape, Evasion, and Remembrance," a locally produced documentary film that will air nationally on PBS this fall, recently won a gold award in the documentary category at the Worldfest International Film Festival in Houston. The film airs nationally on Monday, October 30, 9-10:30 CST. The film has also been accepted by the Jackson Hole Film Festival and will be screened during this year's festival, June 7-10, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

"Last Best Hope" was produced by Austinites Ramona Kelly and David Grosvenor. It was directed, edited, and written by Mat Hames of Alpheus Media, Inc. Wilson Waggoner, also of Alpheus Media, Inc, was the director of photography. The original score was composed and arranged by internationally known musician Stephen Barber of Austin. KLRU, Austin PBS, is the presenting station for the PBS broadcast.

The film, which springs from Abilene resident Bill Grosvenor's experiences in Nazi-occupied Belgium, examines the transcendent power of the human spirit expressed by ordinary Belgian citizens who came together in extraordinary ways to aid downed American fighter pilots during WWII.
