KLRU Secures Grants to Improve Service to Members

KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, has received a $50,000 grant from The Moody Foundation and a $10,000 grant from the Lola Wright Foundation to support the station's marketing and development infrastructure project.

This project is part of KLRU's strategic plan to provide improved customer service to members and transform the infrastructure to build a stronger and more diverse base of support for the station. This plan will help insure the station's continued success as Federal funding to Public Broadcasting decreases. The project consists of four components:

  1. Upgrading the donor database and enhancing the ability to manage it with technology-driven tools
  2. Hiring a Webmaster to provide strategic directions for using the new technologies
  3. Training staff in the new technologies as well as in best practices
  4. Conducting market research about the station's viewer and member base

The project will allow KLRU to increase membership, decrease the number of on-air pledge days annually, cultivate new major donors, and create a broader base of support in Central Texas.

The Moody Foundation granted KLRU $50,000 in support of this project. The Moody Foundation of Galveston was established in 1942 For the perpetual benefit of present and future generations of Texans. The Foundation currently caries out this mandate through grant making activities, primarily in Galveston, Austin and Dallas and through the initiation and development of large-scale projects.

The Lola Wright Foundation, a Georgetown-based foundation, also provided $10,000 for this project.
