Austin City Limits: Best Music Show on TV
Paste Magazine’s The Best 24 Hours on Television issue names Austin City Limits the best place for music on television. Austin City Limits is the only music show featured in the list, which also includes Lost, American Experience, The Office, Independent Lens, 24, Deadwood and Battlestar Galactica.
The October issue features a cover story about the top programs currently on TV. Paste writes: “For those first 25 years, Austin City Limits was the showcase for the best in live roots-rock, country, blues and Americana. Now — with the more-open-minded approach of the last several years and coming 32nd season — it’s simply the best place on TV for live music, period.”
Austin City Limits was also included at number 44 in the Paste reader’s poll on the top 50 shows on television.
“We’re very pleased that both the editors and readers of Paste magazine have recognized Austin City Limits among the top shows currently on television,” said producer Terry Lickona. “With all the shows to choose from, it is a real honor being the only music program featured in both lists. That’s a great way to head into our new season on PBS.”
The series’ 32nd season begins with a rare television appearance by one of the leaders of the British invasion and former Kinks frontman Ray Davies on Saturday, October 7.
