FETCH with Ruff Ruffman!

  • New Game and Podcasts Before Season Premiere
Need a FETCH! fix before the season 3 premiere on Monday, September 29? Challenge a friend to a FETCH! Face-Off -- a duel of FETCH! trivia -- to see who watched seasons 1 and 2 most closely. And find out what really happens behind the scenes on "FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman" in exclusive podcast interviews with the top dog himself. Head to the FETCH! web site (pbskidsgo.org/fetch) to access both the FETCH! Face-Off game and the growing collection of Ruff's podcasts.
  • Order Your Copy of "The Ruff Guide to Science"
Starting this fall, the new FETCHers will be completing mind-bending challenges and meeting amazing scientists in the process. Give your kids a similar experience by challenging them to activities that include learning about camouflage, concocting rubbery gobbledy-gook, and revealing invisible ink. After each of the guide's six activities, kids will be introduced to careers that address the same topics your kids just explored. And to top it off, this guide includes an exciting game where your kids help Ruff get out of a jamb by hiring the right kind of scientist to help him and picking out the best equipment to use on the job. Order your free Ruff Guide to Science by emailing fetchnews@wgbh.org. Please include your name, organization, mailing address (please indicate work or home address), email, and phone number.
  • FETCH! Patch for Girls Scouts
Girl Scouts across the country can now earn a patch by doing FETCH! science activities and sharing them with younger children. Give your girls the chance to solve problems, think creatively, and at the same time learn about science and engineering -- just like the kids on FETCH! For patch requirements (which will be updated annually) and ordering information, email fetchnews@wgbh.org.
  • FETCH! News Flash
Find the latest news in the FETCH! News Flash. This newsletter will arrive in your in box once every two months and provide you with information about:
    * the FETCH! schedule on PBS,
    * tips for using FETCH! hands-on activities including extension ideas,
    * seasonal activity suggestions and links to related ZOOM activities,
    * new features on the FETCH! Web site (pbskidsgo.org/fetch),
    * production updates on future seasons, and

Each month, KLRU chooses a program for your family (ages 7 and up) to enjoy together.

Snowflake smiling.NATURE's “Oceans in Glass: Behind the Scenes
of the Monterey Bay Aquarium”

The Family Choice program for July is NATURE's “Oceans in Glass: Behind the Scenes of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.” It airs on Sunday, July 27, from 7-8 p.m.

Also airing on KLRU:
Monday, July 28, 2008, 2-3 a.m.
Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 2-3 a.m.

Imagine standing on the bottom of the ocean and watching five-foot-long sharks and giant tuna whiz by at arm's length or being surrounded by elegant, lacy white jellyfish as they soar, pulsing, through the water. Visitors to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Northern California can experience this... and more.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is recognized as one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world because of its realistic presentations. Instead of exhibiting collections of animals, the Aquarium presents entire habitats, virtual slices of ocean that include 30,000 animals and plants. But how does an aquarium work? What's the science behind the magic?

Now NATURE gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's leading centers for marine research and conservation -- a marvel of engineering and biology.
