Ciara Cook from Round Rock High School (in Round Rock, Texas) placed 3rd in the high school age class of the 2009 Juneteenth Essay Competition, the first one sponsored by the Greater East Austin Youth Association. 46 central Texas students wrote essays in answer to this year's question, "Why should Texans celebrate Juneteenth?"
