Outside at the UT Communications courtyard today, the BBC’s, World Have Your Say, was broadcasting live across the world.  They are in Austin until Friday, November 21 in honor of KUT’s 50th Anniversary.

Sean and I stumbled upon this event today without a camera in hand, so when we quickly realized what was happening, we ran to grab the first camera we could find and captured this video on the fly.  Sometimes you have to get what you can without a boom microphone!

When I first approached, it looked like a quiet group of people huddled around a table.  I was asked by someone with KUT if I wanted to listen in and I realized there were multiple pairs of headphones set up for anyone to listen in, and if someone wanted to comment on the topic discussed, they could sit down with the group.

Today, Ros Atkins, the presenter of World Have Your Say was talking with people about the role capital punishment plays in America and Texas.  For me personally, it was amazing to hear a live radio broadcast  with callers from across the world on a very local, controversial topic as I was standing outside in the UT courtyard.

Check out this video share your opinion!
