The story of Esequiel Hernandez, with all the political and social implications therein, is one that needed to be told. Kieran Fitzgerald and his brother Brendan took on this task and produced a 90 minute documentary that is to air on POV on July 8th, 2008 (you can watch a preview of the film here).
Docubloggers is in the midst of producing a story on the film, its producers, and the screening last night in Austin sponsored by the Austin Film Society. Stay tuned to the site for the final docublog, coming soon.
On May 10th of this year, the Frisco Shop Restaurant served their last meal at their original Burnett Road location. Two weeks later the restaurant was torn down. They plan to re-open soon, just up the street at what was most recently Curra’s. But the Frisco Shop staff and customers had fond memories and mixed emotions about the restaurant that many have been visiting since it opened in 1953.
