• If you normally allow your lawn clippings to return to the soil, consider collecting them for a few times to start a compost pile. Add garden prunings and kitchen discards (but avoid animal products).
• If container plants are baking, move them into a little more shade.
• Avoid fertilizing or heavy pruning at this time.
• Replenish mulch but don’t pile up next to the base of the plant or against tree trunks.
