To Do This Week

Week of June 23rd, 2012

  • Water new plants very deeply. Even drought-tough plants need extra attention as they establish.
  • Remember to provide deep watering to your figs and other fruiting trees.
  • New plants and even your vegetables will appreciate it if you can provide a little bit of shade in these hot days. You can rig up shade cloth, set up boards, or even old umbrellas-anything to take the heat off a bit.
  • If potted plants are getting sun scald, move them into a little more shade. Plant pumpkins and okra.
  • Put out water for the wildlife! Even a shallow bowl with a rock in it will help our beneficial insects and birds.
