Week of April 3rd, 2010

  • Fertilize roses again.
  • Fertilize citrus trees with high nitrogen.
  • Keep an eye out for plants that will be emerging with the heat. Don't dig it up just yet!
  • Keep rowcover handy for peppers and tomatoes.
  • Plant perennials, trees, roses, herbs (except for warm-weather herbs like basil)
  • Don't fertilize brand new plants. Let them get their roots established. You can give them a drench with liquid seaweed.
  • Dig up grass from around the trees.
  • Hold off on fertilizing the lawn. You can apply compost.
  • Pull or mow weeds to break the seed cycle. Herbicides will not help you now.
