To Do This Week

Week of December 25th, 2010

  • It's a perfect time to plant trees, shrubs and hardy perennials.
  • Plant wildflower seeds.
  • Still time to plant carrots, radishes, lettuces, spinach and herbs like cilantro, lemon balm, camomile and dill.
  • Mulch marginally tender plants like shrimp plant, abutilons, Esperanza, and any new plants like turks cap or others that freeze to the roots in winter.
  • While it's so dry, be sure to keep those new trees and shrubs watered as we go into the first freeze.
  • Continue dividing perennials and groundcovers.
  • Wait until we're past the blasts of hot weather to move shrubs, roses, or trees.
