Four-Nerve Daisy

Tetraneuris scaposa

four nerve daisy

This native perennial is also known as hymenoxys. There are many different species of Four-nerve daisy, and all do well here. They really like a rocky, well-drained soil. If you are on clay, you’ll need to build loose, well-drained spots for them or grow them in containers.

These xeric plants also need full sun, although they can accept afternoon shade. Don’t give them too much water, especially if your soil is only marginally loose since that will lead to rot. They flower from early spring on through the heat of summer. This plant gets about 6″ tall, which includes the flower stalk. It’s about 6″ wide so plant them in groups for the most attention from gardeners and the pollinators they attract.
