Question of the week

<%=tDate%>

Q. What is that sap seeping out of trees during the hot summer months?

A. A not uncommon situation, this clear or brown liquid is named white slime flux, a bacterial infection. A physical problem, flux oozes out of stress cracks, pruning wounds, is pressured out of weak trees.

Bothersome, but no treatment necessary. Try to keep tree healthy so it can heal over. Notice butterflies and bees drinking sap. Wash sap off trees. Water deeply and infrequently, fertilize lightly.
