What are these worms on my cabbage and broccoli?

What you're seeing are cabbage loopers. These caterpillars love plants in the blue-leaf family, like cabbages, kale, and broccoli. They can quickly decimate your plants if you don't keep on top of them. This caterpillar is the larva of a moth. They're very easy to treat with an organic and very safe product, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). It comes under many names, but you should be able to find it easily. When caterpillars eat the leaves that you have sprayed, they can't digest it, so they actually end up exploding.

If you don't see the caterpillars, but you see holes in the leaves or their frass (their droppings), spray the Bt in early morning or evening (not in the heat of day), and you will have control again. This product will not harm you, your children, or pets.
