Question of the Week

There are many reasons for brown grass in spots. The most common is simply the drought and long extended heat. When you water, be sure to water deeply. Thanks to our recent rains, it should be rebound with the cooler weather and be fine by next spring.
A reminder: this winter if we don't get rain, be sure to water about once a month to keep the roots healthy after the recent stress.
You may also have a fungal disease called brown patch. You can treat it with fungicidal products. Or don't do anything. The grass will grow back. Give it compost, don't over-fertilize, properly water, and mow high. If you have drainage or compaction issues, look into correcting that the next few months.
