Question of the Week

Does that sound familiar?!
So, we all want to know: can the remaining section survive the shock? Can she replant the part that got “pruned?”
Well, let's start with the top section. She needs to let this section heal over, which means to allow it to dry out, so it develops a scar that's not leaking plant juices anymore. Wait about a week, and then plant in use a very loose soil mixture or cactus potting soil. Then, she needs to stake it if it doesn't stand up straight, because it has no roots or ability to stabilize itself. After that, don't water it too much to avoid rot.
Lori also asks if the original plant is root-bound and if she should re-pot it. Her plant has maybe grown in too much shade for a little while, and gotten a little tall for its container, although it's probably not root bound. Her original plant is fine for now in its pot.
