Plant of the Week

Salvia Mystic Spires (Scutellaria suffrutescens)

Many of you have grown Salvia ‘Indigo Spires'. It's a great plant for those semi-shaded spots but it tends to flop all over the place. Many of us don't have that much room or we don't have the time to always be cutting it back.

Enter Salvia “Mystic Spires.” This one stays about 3' wide, maybe 2' height.

It resembles ‘Indigo Spires' with those rich purple blue spikes that attract all kinds of bees and butterflies. It blooms all summer. It does need a little extra water and will appreciate some afternoon shade.
