Plant of the Week: Blackfoot Daisy

Blackfoot Daisy

Tips of the Week

  • Plant pumpkin seeds to get ready for Halloween. These are large seeds, so they're very easy to plant.
  • Watch for leaf-footed bugs on your tomatoes. Hand-pick early in the morning and dump into soapy water.
  • Cut back iris and daylily scapes.
  • Move your mower up to its highest setting. As we go into the heat, you want to mow high and leave the clippings on the soil to send the nutrients back to the roots.
  • Water effectively: it's better to water deeply, then let the plant dry out. Don't forget to water new shrubs and trees when rain is spotty or brief. Check the soil. It may still be dry 1/2" down.
