Plant of the Week: Sedum spurium

Sedum spurium

Tips of the Week

  • Keep an eye out for insects, but do use pesticides with caution. It's better to avoid pesticides, since you will also kill the beneficial insects in your garden.
  • When you water, be sure to water deeply. A casual pass with the hose doesn't get past the first 1/4" or less of soil. Dig a trowel and see how far the water has penetrated. When hand watering, let the water bubble up. Go to another plant and water it until the soil bubbles. Then return to the first plant and water it some more.
  • Many plants do need to dry out between waterings. It is better to water deeply and let it dry out before watering again. Otherwise, you may contribute to root rot in these hot humid days.
