Plant of the Week: Phlox
Tips of the Week
-
Plant herbs like basil, thyme, oregano, lemon balm, lemon verbena, and rosemary. These work well even in containers.
-
Weed!! If you let the weeds go to seed, you'll have them next year. Avoid chemicals since they will do no good right now. The best thing is a shovel or other tool. And, keep them mowed.
-
Plant seeds of zinnia, sunflower, globe amaranth and other summer-loving plants.
-
Plant beans, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkin, tomatoes, peppers, okra, Southern peas, eggplant, sweet potato slips, and squash.
-
Let foliage on spring bulbs turn brown before cutting back. Their leaves are getting fuel to feed your bulbs until next year.
-
Plant perennials and shrubs.
-
Prune evergreen shrubs.
