They are exceptionally easy to grow and reseed readily. Papaver spp. can be grown in dormant lawns without over-competing because of they require opposite growing conditions as the lawn. Simply let the pods mature and spread the seeds as you remove the poppy straw. Pods are easy to share with friends who would like poppies of their own.
