Community Connections

KLRU’s outreach campaigns and initiatives are made more successful because of the collaborative work with our community partners. We provide a forum for public discussions and work together to convene activities and events that connect audiences to issues and local resources. For more information on becoming a KLRU community partner, contact us.

Community Partners

Over the past several years, KLRU has collaborated with several agencies whose mission is to improve services for the aging.

KLRU and the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAA-CAP) first worked together around the PBS documentary And Thou Shalt Honor.

We created a statewide effort to raise awareness of available resources for caregivers of the frail and elderly. More recently, KLRU, AAA-CA and AARP/Texas have worked together to convene a forum on the impact of baby boomers on our community and to co-host a community event with Dr. Bill Thomas, a physician and international authority on the culture change emerging in long-term care.

KLRU has partnered with Austin Libraries to bring Family Choice programs to Austin families.

The libraries provide displays of the monthly program and librarians select books and other materials to complement the selection.

Visit your neighborhood library today to find out more about Family Choice.
