Watch our video collections to meet the artists before your trek begins. And be sure to pick up an EAST catalog. You can get one (and support EAST) at the Log Jam fundraiser taking place on Nov. 3. Get more details about Log Jam

EAST is not just about seeing some art in a gallery. There are lots of events that encourage you to participate in the art. This is also your chance to get to know artists and other art lovers. Don’t be afraid.

You may have a plan, but remember part of the fun of EAST is exploring new things. Some of the best art and parties might not be on your list so keep an open mind and take a minute to stop at other tour locations while on your way to the artists on your must see list.

Getting from point A to B in downtown Austin can be a little tricky, especially with the Formula 1 road closures, so you better embrace your bike and public transportation. Plan on getting familiar with bus and bike routes, and remember … there’s always pedicabs!

You’ll need it to tweet your location and happenings with #EAST2012, keep track of bus times with the CapMetro app, check-in to galleries via FourSquare and Yelp, and Instagram your coolest art finds.

Always carry the essentials: Cash for swag and pedicab fare, Backpack for street vendor goodies (ahem… early Christmas shopping, anyone?), Poster tube for that screenprint you suddenly can’t live without, and Comfortable shoes for all that wear n’ tear you’ll endure.
