KLRU is thankful for YOU

Thanksgiving… a day full of good food, great company and maybe even a little football. But it’s also a day to reflect on what we’re grateful for… and KLRU cannot emphasize enough how sincerely grateful we are for YOU!

As we jump into the holiday season, and our Winter Fund Drive, we’re thankful that your thoughtful feedback and support enables KLRU to keep more of your regular schedule on-air, with fewer interruptions, during fundraising drives.

And with just 2 weeks to raise $220,000, will you share in the spirit of Thanksgiving by making a gift to show us how grateful you are for KLRU’s commitment to local productions, community outreach, and unrivaled television that entertains, educates and inspires?

During this season of gathering together… eating Thanksgiving dinner together, watching PBS together—YOU have the power to ensure that KLRU will always be a gathering place for your community.

Thank you for giving generously.

Thanksgiving recipes from PBS

Gobble gobble! Get your Thanksgiving recipes here, courtesy of KLRU, PBS Food and BBQ With Franklin!

The main course:

First, check out these turkey tips from BBQ With Franklin: Learn how to brine and smoke a turkey, make smoked garlic mashed potatoes, a grilled green bean shishito pepper side dish and gravy with smoked butter. Aaron Franklin will also teach you how to tell when your turkey’s done and what to do in the last hour of smoking. (Disclaimer: Don’t watch while hungry.) You can also go here for tips on turkey-cooking from PBS Food!

Here’s another suggestion from BBQ With Franklin: “Cowboy style” barbecuing and other Texas traditions!

If your family isn’t crazy about turkey, make this apple cranberry and cornbread stuffed pork tenderloin with an apple cider glaze, this roasted beef with caramelized shallots, or this cranberry chicken.

Delicious sides:

Twice-baked streusel sweet potatoes

Creamy brussels sprouts and bacon gratin with shallots and gruyère (from KQED)

Wild rice arugula salad with maple glazed acorn squash

Soft and buttery sweet potato dinner rolls (from KQED)

Rich, moist cornbread

The best part…dessert (the unpredictable ones! Because everyone eats pumpkin pie):

Pecan pie bars
