Our vocabulary superhero tackles sequel stealing robots, library late fines, and book club cons in WordGirl’s Ludicrously Literate Library Week – five book-tastic programs airing July 11-15 as part of PBS KIDS’ Summer Reading Initiative.

Monday, July 11 – #114 “Princess Triana and The Ogre of Castlebum”
WordGirl does battle with Tobey, who is determined to steal a copy of the newest sequel to everyone’s favorite book series so he can read it before everyone else.

Time is running out for Becky to return her library books and maintain her perfect record when Raul Demiglasse and the Butcher go head-to-head in a culinary showdown.
Wednesday, July 13 – #106 “Book Ends”
When WordGirl accuses Tobey of being too predictable with his crimes, he responds by using his robots to hold WordGirl’s beloved town library hostage, unless she plays them in a game of winner-take-all dodge ball.
Thursday, July 14 – #222 “Granny’s Book Club”
The Association of Villains is ready to retire Granny May unless she’s able to capture WordGirl. She successfully lures WordGirl into a trap by starting a book club. Will WordGirl be able to read between the lines and escape the clutches of Granny May?
Friday, July 15 – #305 “That’s Entertainment”
The Energy Monster’s latest prison break interrupts the Botsford family’s television time. While Tim, Sally, and TJ brainstorm new forms of entertainment, like READING, WordGirl hunts down the Energy Monster and returns him to his prison cell.

Sid’s Backyard Campout premieres June 20 and repeats all summer long!

Sid, Gerald and his Dad campingIn celebration of National Backyard Campout Day on June 25, pack some food and bring your backpack because Sid the Science Kid, Gerald, and Dad are gearing up for a big adventure…they’re setting up tents for a campout in the backyard!

New episode 214 “Sid’s Backyard Campout!” premieres June 20 and repeats throughout the summer.

During the campout, Dad is eager to share his love of nature and demonstrates how to have a great time outside with the simplest of necessities. They look for animals, cook their own dinner, marvel at the stars in the sky, roast marshmallows, and sing songs around the campfire. And here’s the best part, you are invited to join the adventure and sing along!
