This edition of KLRU Q’s weekly movie night will keep you on the edge of your seat! Don’t miss out on the thrills and chills this Saturday!

First, the Hollywood review show Just Seen It airs at 7 p.m. On this episode they review the new indie dramedy The Skeleton Twins, starring Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader. Then they interview Nicholas McCarthy and Ashley Rickards, the director and star of the horror film At the Devil’s Door.

In On Story, Austin Film Festival’s original series, thriller master writer/director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Band and Lethal Weapon) gives an inside scoop on the critical elements of a taut, suspense-filled movie. In Raising Stakes, Reversals, and Payoffs he uses examples from such classics as Rocky, The Long Kiss Goodnight and La Femme Nikita.

The thrill continues with the feature film No Way Out at 8! The secretary of Defense (Gene Hackman) forces a Pentagon naval aide (Kevin Costner) to lead a manhunt for a Soviet spy during a murder cover-up.

On Story, Austin Film Festival’s original series, investigates the challenges of recreating a real story on film with the episode Explosive Action! The writers behind Wanted, The Bourne Ultimatum, Con Air and Snitch discuss how they use action scenes to further the plot, convey tension, and build toward a satisfying climax.

The action continues with our feature film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot at 8! A young drifter (Jeff Bridges) joins a Montana preacher (Clint Eastwood) in a repeat of another robbery.

Starting at 7 p.m., the movie review show Just Seen It gives us the inside scoop on what’s fresh in theaters. On this episode, get reviews of The Hundred-Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren, and the new zombie rom-com, Life After Beth. Then we head Into the Storm, and finally wrap things up with a rundown of our favorite films this year so far.

Then at 7:30, Austin Film Festival’s own series On Story shows The Humor and Heart of Animation by discussing with the writers of King of the Hill, Kung Fu Panda and The Iron Giant. Discover the comedy, action, and emotion that go into creating the worlds and characters with Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger and Tim McCanlies only on KLRU Q!

And finally, the feature film Monkey Business airs at 8 p.m.! This Hollywood Stars Film Package is about a peculiar elixir that makes a professor and his wife act teenaged and worse. Starring Cary Grant, Ginger Rogers and Marilyn Monroe, don’t miss the movie airing only on KLRU Q!

This Saturday, KLRU Q hosts its Q Night at the Movies with behind-the-scenes programming and more!

First at 7 p.m., the TV and movie review show Just Seen It reviews  the adaptation of the beloved novel, The Giver, and interview Tate Taylor, the director of Get On Up. Then we go back in time with the fantasy romance, Outlander, and wrap things up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Next, Austin Film Festival’s On Story airs at 7:30. Writing the Fantastical: A Conversation with David Magee gives us the amazing director’s perspective of making Finding Neverland and Life of Pi. Then, the program shows us The Return, Jeremy Mackie’s short film about a college graduate who’s literally scared off the scene of his first job.

First, the exclusive film review program Just Seen It at 7 p.m. This week’s episode reviews the new romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe, What If, and the emotional documentary about using music to treat Alzheimer’s disease, Alive Inside. Finally, we take a look at one of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last films, A Most Wanted Man.

Then, Austin Film Festival program On Story is next at 7:30 with the episode Creating Complex Characters. Writer and director Rodrigo Garcia discusses the nuanced characters in the Godfather, Capote, and his own film Mother and Child and In Treatment. Following is the tragic Spanish short film, Who Lasts Longer.

At 8 p.m., the Hollywood Stars Film Package airs the feature film A Streetcar Named Desire. The 1951 adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play is very highly critically acclaimed, and was the fifth highest grossing film of the year.

Followed by American Masters documentary on Gone With the Wind author  Margaret Mitchell at 10:10 pm.

Then, the Hollywood Stars Film Package begins at 8 with the 2008 blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire. A young man from the slums of Mumbai participates in the Indian version of the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and wins, which then attracts suspicion of foul play. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, won 8 including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Let the movies begin! At 7 p.m., the classic The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly hits the screen on KLRU Q. The Italian Western Spaghetti film starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach tells the story of a drifter, a bandit and a bounty hunter at a standoff over buried gold.

Stage Left: A Story of Theater In San Francisco – 10:05 p.m.
Inspired by a Western history of risk taking and exploration, a climate of political and social activism, a particular multicultural mix, and a geography that is seismically unstable, San Francisco theater artists have focused on pushing the boundaries of the form.

by Graham Gordy, suggesting there’s more brewing in Spanola, AK than
just its fine pepper sauce cooking.
