Saturday Cooking Show Lineup Shakeup

Martha Stewart's Cooking School

Pease romaine calm – KLRU is shaking up the cooking lineup on Saturday. Some shows are airing new episodes of old favorites, others will be encores of previously aired shows in new timeslots. Maybe it’s cheesy, but these new timeslots feel grate.

At 12:30 p.m., an encore showing of Mexico – One Plate At A Time With Rick Bayless replaces Pati’s Mexican Table. In this series, chef and restaurateur Rick Bayless seamlessly weaves together techniques, recipes, cultural musings and off-the-wall surprises.

Lachlan sources most of his ingredients from the farm’s herb garden, chicken coup, hatchery and even the nearby creek.

At 2 p.m., learn everything you need to know about making caramel on a new episode of Martha BakesMartha demystifies the secret to this one-ingredient wonder with four irresistible recipes, including a decadent six-layer chocolate cake filled with salted caramel and covered with swirls of chocolate frosting.

Then at 2:30 p.m., Lidia’s Kitchen is back at the same time with a new episode. In this episode, she shares four delicious recipes that celebrate the bounty of the summertime garden: Tuna Salad with Boiled Zucchini, String Bean Salad with Capers and Basil, Whole What Cous Cous with Cucumbers, and finally Shells with Chicken and Zucchini.

Cook’s Country continues its new season with a new episode at 3 p.m. Test cook Bridget Lancaster shows host Christopher Kimball how to make barbecued burnt ends. Finally, test cook Julia Collin Davison uncovers the secrets to making smoky potato salad.

Forget the contest on the gridiron. Tailgating gets a lot more interesting when you fire up your smoker, according to Steven Raichlen. At 5 p.m., Steven Raichlen’s Project Smoke continues the new season with a tailgating episode.

Moveable Feast With Fine Cooking continues its new season at 5:30 p.m. On this episode of Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking, host Pete Evans joins three award-winning chefs, Germano Minin, Bruno Difabio and Tim Reardon at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York for an Italian feast.

At 6 p.m., Annabel Langbein: The Free Range Cook continues its new season with an episode about Italian Inspiration. Langbein visits actor Sam Neill’s Two Paddocks vineyard to harvest saffron and pick heritage pears, then invites him and his team to her cabin to try her modern take on classic Italian osso bucco and saffron risotto. Her pear and prune custard cream dessert has everyone swooning.

Technical Difficulties

KLRU is experiencing intermittent interruptions due to equipment issues which can leave the station temporarily off the air. Our engineers are working on the problem and hope to have it fixed ASAP.
