KLRU Create Marathons for May

Starting at 10 am each Saturday, KLRU Create offers viewers themed programming to get you started on various projects. KLRU Create is on channel 18.2 over the air.

May 5 – Pizza Party
Crispy crust, savory sauce and gooey cheese are the foundation of any good pizza. Create chefs Jacques Pepin, Lidia Bastianich and Mary Ann Esposito are among the chefs who put their own flavorful spin on one of America’s most beloved meals. They top their pizzas with roasted veggies and chorizo while Ming Tsai gets into the mix with his east-meets-west flare making Hoisin Chicken Sausage and Roasted Bell Pepper Pizza. No need to go to the Pizzeria – hot pizza will pop out of your oven in no time!

May 12 – Fresh Air Fun
It’s time for fresh air fun! See the beautiful sights of the world as you’ve never experienced them before with Create intrepid explorers Rudy Maxa, Rick Steves and Darley Newman. You’ll be touring on bikes and horseback along with some hiking. See the views, enjoy the sun on your face and relax!

May 19 – Spring Garden
Liven up your dishes with fresh vegetables right from your spring garden. Create hosts P. Allen Smith, Christina Pirello and Nick Stellino will show you how to take your harvest from garden to table. Your spring carrots, asparagus and peas will breathe new life into your meals!

May 26 – Red, White and Barbecue
The unofficial start of summer begins today. If you grill it, they will come, equipped with forks and a big appetite. Fear not as Create‘s expert grillmaster Steven Raichlen will show you how to cook the perfect steak and prepare ribs so succulent they will make your mouth water. Make sure you have plenty of napkins on hand to wipe up all the barbecue sauce. Fire up the grill and enjoy the first cookout of the season!

Hubert Kelly, Ming Tsai, Jacques Pepin and Julia Child are among the Create chefs who stick together to offer a wide range of tasty recipes from Chicken Cordon Bleu to roasted duck to foie gras, along with the holiday favorite Turducken, They certainly aren’t just “winging” it!

April 21 – It’s Not Easy Being Green
In recognition of Earth Day, learn how to “Go Green” and be organic with host Michele Beschen as she presents a ‘back to basics’ lifestyle that embraces nature, simplicity and an eco-friendly approach to doing it yourself. Get some fresh ideas for your garden, home, office and overall health and well-being of your family and pets on Create.

April 28 – Fix Up Your Home
Spring is the perfect time to begin “Do It Yourself” projects to spruce up your home! Vicki Payne will show you how to update and increase the value of your home while also teaching you how to beautify a backyard for the ultimate outdoor living experience. Design duo Matt and Shari demonstrate how to re-purpose and update spaces for the whole family to enjoy, adding special touches to every room, including the garage!

William Stubbs of “Moment of Luxury” takes us to the famed Sotheby’s in New York for some high-end bidding at an auction. Then, we are off to India with the Pat Johnson and Regina Fraser, the “Grannies on Safari,” to purchase craft fair goodies. No shopping spree is complete without some clothing and accessories, and Burt Wolf has you covered. He brings us to Rome to visit the finest fashion houses and tailors. Make sure you put away some extra spending cash
because we are ready to shop ’til we drop!

Paella, Please

The Spanish dish paella is enjoyed by millions around the world. Celebrate this flavorful and versatile meal with Create’s experts this Saturday. Steven Raichlen prepares paella on the grill and whips up a fantastic vegetable version of the dish, Andreas Viestad gives us his Norwegian-style paella and Hubert Keller gets in on the act with mounds of seafood to make his paella pop. After you’ve had your first bite of paella, you’ll be asking for more and more!

And the Winner is …

Intrepid tour guides Darley Newman, Rudy Maxa and Art Wolfe will take us on an unforgettable tour of uruguay, Argentina and Brazil while Regina Fraser and Pat Johnson also known as the Grannies on Safari make their way through Lima, Peru. This quick jaunt to the Southern Hemisphere will have you humming “The Girl From Ipanema.”

A tour back and forth across the United States with travel expert and historian Burt Wolf will no doubt be a whirlwind of exciting sights and sounds- including stops in Napa Valley, Chicago, Naples, Florida, Boston and Richmond, Virginia. July 23 Good Grapes: Vine Talk Marathon
