KLRU honored with three Lone Star Emmy awards

KLRU was well represented at the 10th Annual Lone Star EMMY Awards November 10th and was honored to come home with three gold statues. The awards ceremony was held at Cowboy’s stadium in Arlington and was attended by television professionals from all over the state. KLRU programs and associated shows were up for a total of 12 nominations. We were pleased when one of these associated shows, Daytripper, received the award for best Magazine Program- Series.

The Light/ The Holocaust & Humanity Project was an education partnership that promoted the protection of human rights against bigotry and hate through arts, education, and public dialogue. The culmination of KLRU’s contribution to Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project 2012 however, was a series of original programs including
Arts In Context : Producing Light; Overheard with Evan Smith “Elie Wiesel“; Civic Summit: Creating a Community of Respect; and SPARK at The Moody “Gerda Weissmann Klein.”

KLRU nominated for 12 Emmy Awards

The Lone Star Emmy Award nominees were announced this week. KLRU programs and projects received 12 nominations! Thanks to your support Austin’s public television station is able to create top quality programming and we’re proud that he Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has recognized this work with nominations.

The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is the standard-bearer for excellence in the television industry and the gatekeeper of the prestigious regional Emmy Awards in Texas. The Lone Star Emmy Chapter represents the best and brightest television and media professionals from all disciplines of the industry and from all of Texas’ 19 television markets.

PBS wins BIG at Daytime Emmys

PBS was the overall Daytime Emmy champ with 14 total awards, all of which – including eight for “Sesame Street” – came during Friday’s presentation of craft and other categories.

PBS’ awards haul included top children’s series, “The Electric Company” and “SciGirls” plus the preschool series “Sesame Street.”
